The main idea of this work runs around the concept of a mixed media project, a sort of neo, tech-Opera, where the real and the virtual are mixed or amalgamated and maybe really unrecognizable in their forms, taking its own proper shape and identity, as if there was another chance to eternal dualisms and dogmas.
Etudes for MADAME E. is a free interpretation of the Georges Bataille’s work titled “Madame Edwarda” (published in France by Éditions du Solitaire, 1937), in which very important themes are interlaced between themselves: Eroticism, Religion, Death.
And like in the tale by Bataille, Eros and Thanatos are always present like an eternal dualism, a perpetual contradiction that breaks the common points of view, in Etudes for MADAME E. a contradictory meeting between the instinct and the repression translates the Bataille’s deep message and thinking about the animal instinct, how much is it still alive in the human kind? And what is transforming? Etudes for MADAME E. is a work in progress for the final version “MADAME E.” involving the opera singer Ernesto Tomasini.
